DSHS OOS/OEDAI Equity, Diversity, Access, and Inclusion Administrator
The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) Office of the Secretary (OOS) has two exciting new positions for an Equity, Diversity, Access, and Inclusion (EDAI) Administrator to join our team!
The EDAI Administrator matrixed position collaborates within the department and in the community as a member of a DSHS headquarters team and is the subject matter expert and strategic advisor for the Economic Services Administration (ESA’s) Assistant Secretary and leadership team. You will consult and monitor the administration’s comprehensive EDAI performance metrics to recommend the appropriate infrastructure and processes necessary to achieve key performance indicators/measures. In this role, you are responsible for assuring the quality and professional accuracy of counsel, metrics, capacity building, technical assistance, convening of groups, communications, policy, and guidance related to the principles and practices of EDAI as well as to the methodologies employed. The required level of knowledge and expertise has both direct and secondary impact on outcomes, which are critical to ESA’s business service lines, programs, structure, risk mitigation, and public trust.
This is a hybrid opportunity; working in an office and remote locations. Travel to ESA workplaces may be required including overnight and multi-day travel. Some out-of-state travel may be necessary.
Some of What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with other EDAI Administrators, OEDAI team members, community partners, and stakeholders to develop new anti-racism and EDAI insights, solutions, strategies, and best practices to make continuous improvements that serve the entire agency.
  • Serve as the Economic Services Administration(ESA’s) subject matter expert on EDAI. Provide expert advice and consultation to ESA’s leadership and recommend approaches to increase anti-racism and EDAI awareness, desire for system change, EDAI knowledge, ability to demonstrate competencies and approaches to sustaining EDAI an embedded and expected element of ESA culture. Serve on ESA’s executive leadership team.
  • Help prioritize and ensure implementation of key initiatives, policies, practices, and programs related to anti-racism and EDAI throughout the ESA. Coordinate, lead, inform, and advise ESA committees, workgroups, or advisory groups on EDAI implementation and business practices.
  • Consult and guide strategies that will advance and embed the principles of EDAI among employees, constituents/customers, strategic partners, and those served throughout ESA.
  • Consult and review equity consideration and impact statements for ESA’s budget decision packages and related agency-requested legislation.
  • Conduct legislative analysis related to EDAI for ESA.
  • Consult on corrective action plans related to justice and civil rights issues and concerns.
  • As the EDAI subject matter expert, provide consultation, advisement, and training as needed to embed EDAI in legislative analysis processes and practices; budget decision package process and practice; and policy development and review.
  • Lead and coordinate Certified Diversity Executive (CDE) and Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) exam preparation and project consultation sessions for ESA. Engage CDE/CDP designees in EDAI and CEU opportunities to ensure consistent certification.
We're Looking for Someone Who Has The Following
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
AND
  • Four years of professional experience working in the field of racial, gender, ability, language equity, anti-racism, diversity inclusion, Equal Employment Opportunity, social justice, and/or racial/gender/access policy development.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated understanding of how EDAI strategies are operationalized across departmental business service lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage colleagues to promote trust, collaboration, participation, and partnership on EDAI efforts and initiatives.
  • Research, data analysis, performance measurement, and outcome reporting.
  • Critical thinking and analysis of complex issues.
  • Demonstrated experience working with confidential or highly sensitive subject matters. Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated skill and ability to serve as a resource to facilitate difficult conversations to address and diffuse interpersonal issues and conflicts between employees, including but not limited to micro-aggressions, unconscious bias, and intercultural communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently as well as in team environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of EDAI and social justice principles, practices, and theories, as well as AA/EEO, Title IX, and civil rights laws/regulations.
  • Possess a professional EDAI certification or the ability to obtain one within six months of hire.
