Registered Nurse 4 - House Supervisor

As a Registered Nurse 4 - House Supervisor, your objective is to assist the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in leading and directing all inpatient hospital nursing services. This position provides oversight in the day-to-day operations, during shift times, for psychiatric inpatient nursing services, and supports the CNO by working with managers to ensure OHBH maintains compliance with all pertinent Federal and State laws and regulations.

Note:
This is a part time position working every weekend, providing night shift coverage. Schedule: Saturday and Sunday 7pm - 7:30am.
Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate
Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.
Some of what you'll do:
  • Oversees patient care and ensures adequate staffing across units
  • Coordinates the flow of patients in and out of the hospital
  • Manages day-to-day operational decisions during shifts
  • Serves in an administrative capacity during off-hours or when department leaders are absent
  • Responds to codes and emergencies, ensuring appropriate staff response and patient safety
  • Manages on-call responsibilities and crisis situations
  • Acts as a resource for nursing staff, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Manages employee injuries, sick calls, and other personnel issues
  • Ensures the environment is safe and compliant with health and safety standards
  • Manages visitor access and facility operations during shifts
  • Other duties as assigned

Required qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing AND four years of professional nursing experience including two years in a lead capacity over other nursing personnel
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher degree involving major study in nursing may be substituted for two years of nonsupervisory experience
  • One year of full-time experience teaching nursing may be substituted for one year of supervisory experience


Other skills and abilities:

  • Master’s degree or higher level in nursing is preferred
  • ANCC certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing is preferred
  • A valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
  • Expert knowledge of hospital, state, federal regulatory standards, policies, and procedures
