Description

Maple Lane (ML)/Brockmann Campuses combine bed inpatient psychiatric RTFs and operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. ML/Brockmann provides long-term inpatient treatment for both civilly committed residents with serious mental illnesses and Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI) residents eligible for community access (at Maple Lane only). People are referred to these residential treatment facility (RTF) beds through the Behavioral Health Organization under a civil court order or a referral process through the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) and employees share a commitment to working together to promote recovery and well-being in partnership with the people we serve.
In this role, as a Psychiatric Nurse Executive (PNE), you will be responsible for providing strategic direction to support the Nursing Department, leading/managing all nursing activities through subordinate managers, ensuring patients receive quality nursing services, maintaining the timeliness, relevance and standards of compliance for RTF policies and procedures, providing accurate and timely data-based information for decision making and policy formulation to enhance the provision of safe, quality patient care and promoting a RTF-wide culture of safety and professional competence through staff training and development. You will establish relationships with the internal & external stakeholders, and colleges, develop preceptorship programs, training opportunities, etc. You will report directly to the executive officer at Maple Lane/Brockmann Campus of the Residential Treatment Facility Leadership Team.

Some of what you’ll do.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team to oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality nursing services ensuring that programs are managed with integrity and in compliance including implementing and inspiring continuous improvement
  • Responsible for the overall development and maintenance of nursing-specific standards and policies with accreditation standards of CARF (Commission of Accreditation of Residential Facilities) and policy legislation for the state of Washington.
  • Lead day-to-day operational success, including all patient nursing care activities, core operations, strategic direction, certification, accreditation, and fiscal management of all resources.
  • Establish required linkages with the administrative, clinical, and non-clinical components.
  • Coordinate and monitor all nursing plans of correction related to survey findings of internal and external audits, and federal and state inspections.
  • Recommend to the CEO the appropriate structure and membership of nursing-specific committees, including medical records, accreditation, and other such committees as shall be deemed necessary.
  • Responsible for discipline standards for patient care and services and that they are monitored to ensure the quality treatment is provided.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to nursing staff, through the interdisciplinary management team, to ensure outcomes are followed RTF-wide including subordinate and direct nursing care staff.

Who should apply:
  • A valid Washington State license to practice as a registered, professional nurse.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing and 8 years of direct care nursing experience or master’s degree in nursing with 6 years of experience preferred.
  • Minimum six years of supervisory or management experience in a nursing leadership role in an inpatient psychiatric facility.
  • Working knowledge of evidence-based inpatient psychiatric services and principles of Recovery from mental Illness.
  • Psychiatric nursing experience is required.
Preferred qualifications/experience and certification
  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • Knowledge of principles of healthcare performance improvement.
  • Knowledge of DSHS policies and related state administrative codes.
  • Working collaboratively with labor unions SEIU and team members
  • Applying clinical expertise in addition to psychiatric expertise to exceed standards of care
  • Advocating for nursing staff and practicing Washington State Law for RNs, LPNs, and NARs.
  • Generating new, innovative, and visionary approaches that improve best practices.
