Description

• Strategic Coordination: Work closely with the Implementation Committee to develop and manage oversight of the GWMA Groundwater Management Plan, ensuring alignment with program goals and objectives.
• Effective Communication: Prepare and distribute meeting agendas and materials, as well as quarterly summaries of work for submission to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and project partners, fostering transparency and accountability.
• Partner Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with community, regional, and state partners, facilitating collaboration and maximizing resources for effective implementation.

• Resource Management: Identify and pursue funding sources to support project initiatives, leveraging efforts to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Leadership and Mentorship: Direct and support the Community Outreach and Environmental Education Specialist, providing guidance and oversight to ensure the successful implementation of the Hazard Mitigation Plan.

• Project Management, including project planning and forecasting, task tracking, and budget management.
• Principles and practices of environmental studies and issues, groundwater planning and operations.
• Decision making in accordance with implementation policies and federal and state statutes.
• Writing business correspondence, drafting documents and reports, and writing concise and accurate meeting summaries.
• Meeting and committee coordination and facilitation.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Lived or professional experience addressing environmental injustice and working with communities of color, indigenous people, or low-income populations on environmental and social justice issues.
• Knowledge of federal and state solid waste and hazardous laws and regulations.
• Knowledge of basic nitrate and groundwater cleanup principles.
• Knowledge of clean water act regulations.
• An understanding of environmental justice research, demographic data, and equity focused assessments.
• Knowledge and practice of collaborative problem solving, conflict resolution, and participatory planning.
• Understanding and confidence discussing environmental and social justice, racism, and social and economic inequalities.

• Work a full-time 40-hour work week and occasionally adjust work-schedule to meet business needs, which may include evenings and weekends. A flexible work schedule will be considered upon request and supervisor approval.
• Standard business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

• Occasionally travel alone or with another person throughout the Benton and Yakima Counties, statewide, or out-of-state which may include overnight.
• Legally operate a state- or privately-owned vehicle or provide alternative transportation while on state business and drive long distances in both daylight and at night and in snow and rain conditions.
• Participate in emergency response exercises and emergency events/high-priority assignments as assigned.
