Overview
The District Facilities Supervisor is responsible for maintenance and supervisory work for the Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS).
The incumbent will oversee design, installation, repair, and maintenance of State buildings and grounds. Additionally, the Supervisor will hire, train, and evaluate maintenance staff, and may supervise custodial staff in the absent of custodial supervisor.
The ideal candidate will be able to lift up to 75 lbs., and have considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, practices and tools used in building and mechanical maintenance work.
Some in-state travel is required, and this position may require emergency response calls outside of regular work.
The hours are 6 : 30am to 3 : 00pm, Monday through Friday with occasional weekend and overtime hours. Two (2) nights a month the shift will be 11 : 30am to 8pm.
This position requires successful completion of a DOC / VSP background check and a valid driver's license.

Environmental Factors
Duties are performed at State buildings including Correctional and Psychiatric Facilities, Courthouses, Probation & Parole and State Police Barracks.
Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Contact with inmates may be anticipated.
Manual dexterity may be needed to operate equipment and use tools. Incumbents should be able to lift heavy weights up to 75 pounds, and work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas.
Requires possession of a valid driver's license. May require emergency response to calls outside of regular work hours. Some potential for physical injury may be present.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years or more of experience in building maintenance and repair work INCLUDING three (3) or more years at the journeyman level AND two (2) years or more in a supervisory or lead worker role.
