State of Vermont is Hiring a District director Near Williston, VT

Overview

Central Intake & Emergency Services (CIES) is recruiting a Part-Time (with benefits) Assistant Director. CIES is a 24-hour, 7 days a week child protection hotline that serves as the state-wide child abuse reporting and emergency response system for the Family Services Division.

CIES provides the first line of child protection involvement through the initial reporting process, as well as through the after-hours emergency response to child safety, placement crises of youth in custody, emergency care orders, delinquency, and youth beyond the control of their caretakers.

The part-time Assistant Director will work closely with the Director to manage the daily operations of the call center and provide supervision to the Supervisors and Senior Family Services Workers.

Together with the Director, the Assistant Director will provide leadership and guidance to CIES staff in activating emergency procedures and deploying district workers after-hours with a focus on safety culture.

Key responsibilities will include supporting the supervisors with screening reports of child abuse & neglect and overseeing the after-hour emergency responses;

assisting the Director in building a strong system of evaluating, monitoring, and strengthening practices that support children, families, and staff.

The Assistant Director will create and implement ongoing staff training and manage the complex staff schedules to ensure adequate staffing coverage for all shifts.

An essential aspect of this position is to act as liaison to the district offices, mandated reporters, and community partners to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

The schedule of the Assistant Director will include two to three Saturdays a month and one to two evenings shifts (until 8 : 00pm) a week.

They schedule is a hybrid of remote and office shifts. Some holiday coverage is required.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS : Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.

02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and / or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed largely in a district office setting, although some field travel may be necessary for which private means of transportation must be available.

Court appearances relative to program client needs and status may be required. Although duties normally occur within a regular weekday schedule, some weekend and evening activity may be necessary to provide necessary service or emergency coverage.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in social work or public administration AND two (2) years or more in a managerial, supervisory, or program administration role in a human services program.

Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years or more in a managerial, supervisory, or program administration role in a human services program.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Child Protective Services or in Juvenile Justice.
