Do you have strong computer support skills in an enterprise environment? Then the Division of Technology Services (DTS) has the position for you. The candidate chosen will fill the position of Desktop Support Supervisor (Infrastructure Supervisor) and will be responsible for the Campus E Central Desktop Support team. This position may be either flexible/hybrid telework and in office (3 days minimum required) OR remote if rural (positions considered rural are outside of these counties: Salt Lake, Tooele, Weber, Davis, Summit and Utah County). Please note, a position's eligibility for telework is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.The Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate should possess strong resource and problem management skills. They should be capable of managing difficult computer and customer issues while interacting with and alerting department and agency management teams. While it is expected that the successful applicant will have very strong supervisory skills, strong technology skills are also required to ensure success in this position. Our systems range from highly transactional on-premise and cloud solutions, and include a broad set of web based customer-facing applications.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Manage personnel resources on the team.Ensure that department and agency service levels are met.Maintain calendars, arrange schedules, and coordinate appointments for teams.Establish priorities for existing workload.Manage employee resources to maintain on-site and remote coverage during business hours.Provide status reports for projects and evaluate whether or not they are on schedule.Monitor project progress and work with department and agency project team leadership to remediate project issues.Meet with department and agency leadership to provide guidance and feedback on projects and tasks.Maintain accurate documentation, records, and logs.Research and recommend innovative ways to automate computer administration tasks.Participate in and provide feedback and recommendations on developing standards and guidelines for desktop and mobile computer environments.Work with staff to diagnose and troubleshoot problems, optimize performance, make resource adjustments, perform preventative maintenance, manage hardware and software, etc.Ensure that supported computers, mobile devices, and peripherals are properly secured and receive software updates.Maintain accurate department and agency hardware and software asset inventory throughout asset life cycles.Communicate updates to department and agency leadership on the status of problem resolution.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Employment contingent on passing a drug screening and a background check.Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
