Who we are and what we do:

The Tennessee Department of Treasury impacts the lives of Tennesseans every day. Treasury is responsible for many of the financial operations of state government, including managing more than $100 billion in assets through its various investment programs. We administer the States Retirement Program, RetireReadyTN, which combines the state pension plan, Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System, and the States Deferred Compensation plan. Treasury serves all Tennesseans by helping to educate and empower individuals to make informed financial choices, and by providing public-serving programs in the areas of college savings, financial literacy, unclaimed property, criminal injuries compensation, and more.

Job Overview:

The position is responsible for providing compliance support with the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement Systems laws, policies, and procedures. This may include the following:

  • Review published materials and internal documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Review and research Internal Audit projects and analytics.
  • Provide support to TCRS special projects as assigned by Management.

At the present time, this position is primarily remote, with monthly required in-person meetings. It is anticipated the department will regularly utilize its downtown Nashville office on a hybrid schedule in the future. Job location is subject to change at the discretion of the Department. The successful candidate should live in Tennessee and provide sufficient internet connection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in periodic testing of policies application in the system to ensure compliances
  • Research and monitor felony charges and forfeiture of benefits
  • Assist with contract monitoring activities Request and review SOC reports and/or compliance testing by vendors
  • Research and address Internal Audit findings and recommendations
  • Review and research various Internal Audit analytics
  • Perform risk assessments, controls testing and gap analysis
  • Review, update, and create procedures and desk guides
  • Research and report on various compliance and policy related issues or questions

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in accounting or business administration related field.

Minimum of two years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a retirement system
  • Experience in governmental sector
  • Experience working in Policy and Compliance
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, specifically Microsoft Excel

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant
