State of South Carolina is Hiring a Wildlife Biologist I Near UNKNOWN, SC

This employee will serve as the project biologist, and will participate in a variety of field work and laboratory activities in support of estuarine finfish/coastal shark research and southern flounder stock enhancement. Examples of duties include, but are not limited to, serving as a field crew member/captain, assisting with management of data collected during fishery-independent and -dependent sampling efforts, maintaining recirculating aquaculture systems, producing fish for the stock enhancement program, and assisting with replicated experiments to evaluate spawning capabilities, environmental tolerances, physiological capabilities, and nutrition requirements. The successful candidate will also assist in additional estuarine finfish activities related to biological studies, proposal submission, analysis, and science dissemination. Staff will be required to participate in strenuous field activities, often necessitating work during non-standard work hours and/or the weekend.
A bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, wildlife management or a related technical area.
Work hours will frequently be irregular (outside the normal 8:30 to 5:00 period) and field work will be rigorous; Work with PVC and fiberglass is required.
