State of South Carolina is Hiring a Technical Training Instructor/Facilitator Near Sumter, SC

readySC™ is a part of the Economic Development Division of the SC Technical College System. We promote economic and workforce development for the state of SC by providing customized training for new and expanding business and industry in the state of SC. The primary duty of the Technical Training Instructor/Facilitator is to deliver classroom training per approved training curricula according to project scope. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Facilitate classroom training on topics such as Workplace Safety to include OSHA 10, Leadership, Teambuilding, Communication, 5S and Lean Manufacturing Methodology, Train-the-Trainer, Basic Math, Metric Conversions, Measurements and Measuring Tools, Blueprint Reading/Schematics, and Basic Hand Tool Use and Safety. 
  • Effective use of technology such as laptops and projectors for course delivery.
  • Prepare delivery/demonstrations, materials, and classroom setup prior to class start.
  • Ensure that CDC safety guidelines are followed by all participants.
  •  Ensure proper documentation of all class paperwork and securely handle PII.
  • Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment. 
  • Establish interaction with and amongst participants.
  • Use a facilitative training method to engage participants and limit lecture content while maximizing learning.
  • Follow prescribed training curriculum. 
  • Clearly explain and demonstrate technical skills and concepts.
  • Reinforce learning by making connections to training objectives and workplace applications.
  • Provide constructive feedback to participants in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Respectfully manage basic difficult behaviors in the classroom.
  • Strive to continuously improve classroom facilitation skills based on current best practices.
A bachelor’s degree and relevant experience in training, manufacturing, and/or military training, or an associate’s degree and two (2) years relevant experience in training, manufacturing, and/or military training, or a high school diploma and four (4) years relevant experience in training, manufacturing, and/or military training.
  • Previous experience delivering training in a classroom environment, preferably in
     manufacturing industry. 
  • Knowledge of standards in ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Candidates should be able to work independently, be self-directing, have good verbal and written skills, and be available for flexible training hours.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing production environments and curriculum development is
     highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and process improvement principles.
  • Highly competent facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Computer skills in the major office applications, e.g. Word, Excel, PPT. 
  • Driver’s Licenses.
This position is based in Sumter with possible travel required to Kershaw, Lee, Clarendon, Florence, Darlington, and Marion Counties.
