Job Responsibilities
Midlands Technical College is a public, multi-campus, two-year public college serving the primary region of Richland, Lexington and Fairfield counties of South Carolina that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. The CAREERS (College Activities Reap Educational Experiences Resulting in Success) Student Services Program Coordinator II is responsible for providing support services to CAREERS Program participants to include: advising and counseling, facilitating the screening and enrollment process, conducting professional development workshops and orientation sessions, and coordinating the childcare process. Serves as a contact for current participants of the CAREERS Program. Provides expert level customer service to program participants, advises and counsels on matters related to academic, vocation and support services.

Promotes student success through the exploration, identification and coordination of support services. Facilitates and assists with the screening, selection, and enrollment process of potential CAREERS participants. Coordinates classroom presentations and other college venues/events to promote awareness. Keys participant's information in the CAREERS database, and assists with case management, advises students on program requirements and follows up with students regarding necessary program documentation etc. Develops and conducts professional development workshops and/or activities. Conducts orientation sessions. Assists with setting up job shadowing opportunities as needed that support both traditional and nontraditional students in an effort to enhance student retention, graduation, and job placement rate.

Coordinates the childcare process which consists of collaborating with DSS approved daycare/childcare providers, and program participants. Issuing appropriate and required documents to the program participants and daycare/childcare providers and maintaining receipt of the documents as appropriate; ensuring that the documents are maintained in participants tangible and electronic files. Collaborating with Finance and Accounts Payable for payment of daycare/childcare invoice, and with Procurement for creation of Blanket Orders (BO) as needed.

Engages intra and inter-departmental constituents through meetings and other avenues to remain abreast of available resources. Collects program data, analyzes trends, and utilizes student feedback to make recommendations for improvement to the director. Assists CAREERS Program Director with the preparation and writing of the Perkins Grant, applicable reports, and monitoring of expenditures. Performs other duties as assigned by the director. Must maintain confidentiality of client records. Position requires a high level of professionalism, ethical standards, and communication skills. Some evening and/or weekend work may be required. Work hours and location may vary. Travel between MTC campuses may be required. Reports to the Director of CAREERS and TRiO Programs.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years relevant program experience.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working in student services. Excellent communications, skills. both written and oral. Computer skills are essential i.e. Microsoft Office Suite etc. Capable of effectively performing assigned leadership duties. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion. Ability to work with diverse groups. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must have excellent human relations and motivational skills. Functions with established guidelines., and independently in the execution of daily tasks using judgment in interpretation and application of policies and general guidelines.
