State of South Carolina is Hiring a Project Manager I / DOAS / PPS Near Columbia, SC

Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Central Office, 2414 Bull Street, Columbia, SC 29201.

As the Project Manager I, you will work closely with other senior staff and other construction project managers to ensure construction and building renovations meet Agency requirements. You will coordinate all aspects of the community Mental Health Center maintenance within SCDMH facilities statewide. Including defining the scope of work for projects, developing estimates, procuring funding, and coordinating work by either inside forces or outside commercial contractors. Coordinate with OSE and third-party inspectors to ensure all applicable safety, regulatory, and CARF requirements are properly documented. Act as a first responder in emergencies to assess conditions at facilities.

Responsibilities for this Project Manager I include but are not limited to:

* Provides construction contract administration support to SCDMH maintenance and construction projects in a variety of statewide buildings using OSE documents and/or State Procurement rules.

* Responsible for managing and directing the initiation, planning, execution, control, and closeout phases of the project lifecycle for assigned construction projects. Determine the scope of work to be completed as directed.

* Provides customers with estimates, cost, and timetable. Arranges work with either inside forces and/or outside commercial construction contractors. Upon completion of work, ensure customer is satisfied with project. Ensures all OSE and State Procurement rules are followed.

* Develops work plan(s); controls budget, scope, and schedule to ensure construction project deliverables, milestones and required tasks are completed as planned.

* Prepares status reports and provides updates to project stakeholders, sponsors, champions, etc. Coordinates requests and recommends changes from original specifications with project sponsor, project team, or stakeholders.

* Develops and maintains construction project documentation; oversees construction project design to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, or agency's criteria, codes and regulations.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and relevant project management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or five (5) years Construction Project Management experience.

Additional Comments

The selected candidate must be familiar with the State Procurement Code, OSE Project Manual and knowledge of the International Building Code. Possess a valid SC driver's license. This position will spend significant time in the field supervising ongoing construction projects throughout the state of South Carolina for the Department of Mental Health. Will require traveling around the state inspecting buildings and managing construction projects and construction contracts.
