JOB Andrew Jackson State Park combines history, art and community activities into a setting that has made it one of the state’s most popular parks. Favorite features include living history programs, a museum and interactive exhibits that chronicle Jackson’s boyhood in the South Carolina backcountry.Job Purpose and Duties: Under general supervision, assists with overall operation and maintenance of Andrew Jackson State Park. Performs diversified duties as governed by general instruction, policies and standard operating procedures of the department. Assumes the responsibilities of the Park Manager in the absence of higher level employees.1) Assists with park administrative duties in accordance with department policy and procedures and planning of long and short-term goals.2) Collect and account for revenue and produce required reports.3) Instruct, supervise and perform routine and preventative maintenance on grounds, buildings and equipment to meet established standards.4) Manages assigned specific operations to include public use areas, retail operations and facilities.5) Employee will be required to live in designated park housing to provide for security, safety and emergency response.6) Assists in control of inventories of equipment, supplies and retail items by issue, use and counts; completes data reports.7) Maintains a safe work environment.8) Practice and promote teamwork within Andrew Jackson State Park, throughout the agency and with external stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Associate degree in park management or a related field with two (2) years of park ranger experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Additional Requirements: 1) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights.2) Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other material used in maintaining park facilities and grounds3) Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Residency in agency provided housing is required.4) Skill in the use of equipment necessary for maintenance activities. Must be able to prepare reports and schedules, and supervise and train subordinates. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.5) Must posses a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
