State of South Carolina is Hiring a MHP I (Dorchester) Near Dorchester, SC

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina. 
 
 This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Dorchester Clinic 106 Springview Lane, Summerville SC 29485
 
 This position will be embedded in St. George Police Department and will collaborate with other Dorchester law enforcement agencies. This position will serve children, adolescents, families, and adults who have witnessed or experienced violence or who have other mental health needs.
 The clinician will be stationed at the police department and work in conjunction with local law enforcement, victim's advocates, and other agencies assisting victims of crime.
 The clinician will ensure appropriate support, have a positive impact on the collaborative relationship with local law enforcement, and will increase access to treatment for this population.
 
 Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: 
  • Provides individuals and family therapy with a trauma focused approach. Provide other treatment-related services and complete other related administrative functions.
  • Perform assessments and crisis counseling to clients and arrange dispositions for cases requiring a different level of care, including consultation with psychiatrist as necessary
State Minimum Requirements: 
 A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.
 
 Agency (Facility) Minimum Requirements:
 A master's degree or doctorate degree from an accredited program, university, or college in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling or other behavioral discipline deemed equivalent by SCDMH.
 
  • Working knowledge of Mental Health legal principles and practices, of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling and educational services.
 
  • Considerable knowledge of psychopathology and patient management in psychiatric settings.
 
  • Working knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other agencies.
 
  • Ability to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex treatment and the ability to conduct detailed investigations, draw conclusions and recommended require actions. 
 
  • One (1) year of post graduate experience.
 
  • If any of the essentials job duties fall below the "Meets" level, at any time during the rating period the disciplinary process may be initiated.
  • Possible PRN on call if needed.
