State of South Carolina is Hiring a General Maintenance Tech II (Exhibits Technician) 60024188 Near Mount Pleasant, SC

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate just like you to apply! This position will offer great benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service. Responsibilities of the Exhibits Technician: Performs as a team member within the Department of Collections and Curatorial Affairs. Responsible for painting and preservation of the museum's exhibit spaces and tour routes. Assists with the maintenance and fabrication of museum casework, artifact mounts, and other displays. The job duties of this position include but are not limited to the following: Assists in the fabrication and maintenance of exhibits, tour routes, and other landside areas. Regularly surveys all tour routes and exhibits for routine cleaning, care, and maintenance. Performs surface preparation, cleaning, painting, and other exhibit construction. Employee may be required to work after normal working hours, rotations, on weekends, holidays, emergencies, and or special events. Employee may be required to perform other duties as assigned to accomplish the mission of the Agency.Other duties as assigned.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
A valid South Carolina driver’s license and previous trade experience. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of techniques and skills necessary to properly utilize equipment used in the performance of duties as maintenance technician.Ability to serve as crew leader; assign tasks to workers and allocate materials and equipment to complete assigned tasks.Knowledge of safety practices and regulations.Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and supplies used as a painter. Skill in the use of various trade tools and equipment.Skill in making emergency and general repairs and adjustments to equipment used in museum exhibits and tour route maintenance work. Ability to use judgment to complete routine work without supervision. Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview. A copy of the transcript may also be uploaded as an attachment to the application, if required by the hiring department or if desired by the applicant. Please note that some areas of the Agency may require an official, certified copy of the transcript prior to hiring or within a specific timeframe required by that area, after hiring. Failure to produce an official, certified transcript may result in not being hired or termination.
