Job Summary: The Fiscal Technician I is responsible for a variety of finance, accounting, and some administrative duties under the general supervision of the Finance Manager.Oversight responsibilities: Performs varied clerical accounting and bookkeeping duties which may include posting, updating, reconciling, routine auditing, and preparing summary financial and statistical reports.Attends all necessary trainings and gains knowledge needed to be more successful in all job duties.Duties/Responsibilities: Verifies disbursements, expenditures, data processing reports, and fund transfer requests for accuracy, legality, and authorization.Responsible for cashier operations and functions including preparing credit card, cash, and check receipts. Assists in the receipt, inventory, storage, and distribution of supplies, mail, and equipment.Answers questions and assists personnel in a variety of areas including collections and delinquent accounts.Prepares or assists in the preparation of invoices, receipts, vouchers, and bank deposits.Prepares and edits financial and statistical reports, schedules, and statements.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Thorough understanding of policies and control procedures involved with revenue receipts.Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Excel, or related software.Experience or ability to learn, understand and use point of sale software including the Gateway Galaxy Point of Sale, or similar software.Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies and notice questionable trends in receipt reconciliation.Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information.Education and Experience: A 2- year degree or equivalent with at least 2 years cash handling experience.A high school diploma, at least 2 years of experience, with 1 year in supervisory role, and entry-level experience in accounting, bookkeeping, with depository knowledge.At least two years of experience in computerized bookkeeping or related retail computer experience.Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.Must be willing and able to travel throughout assigned area.
