What You’ll Do:

• Assesses educational needs of incarcerated persons.
• Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individualized assignments and training.
• Provides instruction in fundamentals of electricity, using test equipment and residential, commercial, and industrial wiring and individual assistance.
• Administers, scores and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators.
• Maintains discipline and/or security and counsels students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems.
• Attends variety of meetings (e.g., in-service training, treatment team, student interviews).
• Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment figures, grades, student progress).
• Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed.
• Researches, selects and recommends new teaching materials.
• Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of teacher education designed for career-tech - electrical wiring & assigned grade level; departmental policies & procedures concerning operations of educational program to include those for discipline &/or security*. Skill in operating equipment associated with electrical wiring & audio-visual equipment. Ability to assess educational needs of students & develop appropriate lesson plans & individualized assistance; prepare & maintain accurate & concise reports & records; gather, collate & classify information, establish good rapport with students & work cooperatively with other staff members.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing:

All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments. Testing will also be performed for the presence of marijuana. An applicant with a positive test shall not be offered employment unless the applicant submits medical documentation of legally prescribed medications or a recommendation for medical marijuana.

The final applicant selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicant’s prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
