What We Do:
OhioMHAS operates regional psychiatric hospitals in six locations across the state that operate 365/24/7. Our specialized facilities provide short-term, intensive treatment to patients in both inpatient and community-supported environments. We also deliver comprehensive care to patients committed through the criminal justice system.

What You'll Do:
This is a PART TIME POSITION, VARIABLE SHIFTS ******MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 3RD SHIFT, 10:30 OM - 7:00 AM
Operates dispatch equipment on assigned shift: promptly answers all in-coming calls, connects caller with correct extension; supplies authorized information (i.e., names of department heads, address of facility, names of other administrators) to callers; pages employees & makes announcements as requested/authorized; provides patients with telephone lines for authorized use (e.g., personal, legal) during authorized periods of time; places calls &/or provides long distance/local phone lines for employees on hospital-related business; supplies walk-in visitors during normal business hours with information &/or directs them to appropriate staff; announces all emergency codes/drills (e.g., medical, psychiatric, danger, disaster, fire & alerts) as directed; notifies designated personnel of emergency codes according to established procedures; serves as contact person with facility’s police officers after regular business hours; completes unit checks on an hourly basis after normal business hours; contacts “on call” staff upon direction of shift nursing supervisor &/or shift police officer; receives reports of telephone problems from staff & reports to supervisor; report problems with paging system to supervisor; checks emergency back-up telephone system on a monthly basis; advises incoming telephone operator of needed information upon shift change; complies with & understands policies, procedures, rules & regulations of switchboard operation; attends scheduled training.
Completes required clerical tasks on Dispatch; maintains logs of various functions performed (e.g., distribution of keys to staff; calls to statewide administrator of duty (SWAODD), local/long distance calls for patients; indigent patient calls, employee long distance calls); gives out keys to state cars to employees as directed, maintains “On Call” lists for Medical Officer on Duty (MOD), Administrator on Duty (AOD), Maintenance person on call, Community Support Network (CSN) team personnel, SWAOD); assigns sick call off number & logs information (e.g., name, date, time called, department) using the sick call program, daily review folder with memos received for new information, policies &/or procedures. Updates reference materials (e.g., beeper/page assignments, employee roster, patient roster); logs contact with police officer on Daily Patrol Phone & Radio logs; sets out sign-off sheet for newspapers delivered daily; counts number of newspapers & notes on sign-off sheet daily; holds sign-off sheet until picked up by Fiscal Services personnel; complies with & understands policies, procedures, rules & regulations of dispatch operations.
Performs clerical duties in other areas as assigned; assists (e.g., label folders, alphabetize, documents, files/copies materials); types routine documents (e.g., letters, memos, envelopes, labels). Knowledge of TVBH procedures for responding to workplace incidents & working knowledge of TVBH safety & prevention programs, including infection control. Knowledge of TVBH safety procedures that minimize risk to patients & staff in a hospital or community environment. Possess the ability to identify risks to safety & health & respond & report per TVBH policies.
