OhioMHAS Information Services is the technology arm of the third largest cabinet level agency in the state of Ohio. We support more than 3,200 employees within six regional inpatient behavioral health hospitals, Ohio Pharmacy Services, and Central Office. We develop and support technology for several critical business solutions used by the agency as well as by county and local behavioral health care providers across the state.

We are accepting applications for an IT Solution Architect (IT Architect/Consultant 1), primary technology .NET Framework, within the Office of Information Technology, headquartered at the James Rhodes State Office Tower, 30 East Broad Street, 33rd floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

What You'll Do:

The Solution Architect analyzes business needs, identifies tech solutions, and designs a comprehensive plan for implementation. They collaborate closely with various individuals such as developers, project managers, and analysts to ensure effective implementation of the solution, achieving the stakeholder’s objectives.

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and documenting the overall solution, utilizing industry-recognized patterns and best practices.
  • Working together with stakeholders to comprehend their needs and requirements.
  • Evaluating and selecting appropriate technologies, patterns, and platforms for the solution.
  • Developing and maintaining architectural standards and best practices under the guidance of the agency architectural roadmap.
  • Ensuring that solutions meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
  • Working as a skilled hands-on .NET developer capable of deep collaboration with developers and QA to implement coding and testing artifacts with high quality and velocity.
  • Stays up to date with the current and emerging technologies, tooling, and patterns along with proposing changes where needed.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to developers and QA.
  • Promote the use of patterns (when and why) and develop reference implements for commonly used patterns (how).
  • Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
  • Identifying and mitigating potential risks and issues related to the solution.

Currently teleworking up to 80% of the time, subject to change.

Qualifications

The following are the minimum qualifications for this position. For further consideration, applicants must clearly identify how qualifications are met within the education and/or experience sections of the application.

The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:

  • Education: Core undergraduate program in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent work experience AND
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years combined work experience in any combination of the following: assisting with development and updates to the strategic Information Technology plan, participating in work groups to author Information Technology plan by discipline/program team and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design for assigned discipline/program team (e.g., software development, infrastructure, database administration, security) including 2 years technology related work experience as specified by the agency position description and vacancy/job posting.

Only those applicants possessing the required technology related experience listed in the position description are to be considered for any vacancies posted. Additional preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years experience as a C# .NET Developer.
  • 5 years of proven work experience as a solution or technical architect.
