State of North Carolina is Hiring a Toxicology Administrative Specialist Near Wake, NC

The purpose of this position is to support the toxicology laboratory in administrative functions through performance of the following duties: Case and Data Entry, Records, Reports, Filing and Administrative Tasks, Public Contact, and other duties as necessary. Organization of all court related matters in toxicology is another critical task of this position. The candidate will also be expected to assist with the accessioning process.
  • Perform data entry of medical/toxicology information into a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Handle protected health information (PHI), including medical reports, with confidentiality, sensitivity, and professionalism.
  • Responsible for answering phone calls and either directing the caller to the appropriate party or handling the caller’s needs
  • Maintain the toxicology case file and other documents related to the analytical work product of the laboratory.
  • Maintain and track legal documents related to Toxicology.
  • Help assist accessioning when appropriate.

  • Knowledge of common medical technology and abbreviations.
  • Knowledge of and experience utilizing a database system.

  • Ability to handle protected health information (PHI) and other confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to express technical information clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to provide consistent accuracy, for proofreading and transferring data.
Management Preferences:
  • At least 1 year of medical file management experience
  • At least 1 year of medical data entry experience
  • Medical database experience
  • Toxicology or Forensics office experience a plus
Physical Requirements:
This position is considered sedentary work but requires occasional lifting and moving heavy boxes.
