State of North Carolina is Hiring a Sex Offender Registration Processor Near Raleigh, NC

ResponsibilitiesThis Administrative Specialist I is a non-sworn position in the Sex Offender Coordination Unit (SOCU) within the Criminal Information and Identification Section of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. The primary purpose of this position is to support the North Carolina Sex Offender Registration Program mandated by Federal and State regulations. This position must maintain current knowledge and understanding in all areas of this field. Job responsibilities include the following:
  • Provide assistance to law enforcement and the general public regarding the program.
  • Coordinate the state's community notification efforts.
  • Function as the public registry website coordinator.
  • Support SOCU supervisor with training initiatives and provide first line administrative support as new public/private sex offender projects/grants are instituted.
  • Assist SOCU supervisor and the Criminal Justice Program Manager in processing offender registration terminations.
  • Serve as a quality assurance coordinator to ensure accurate entry of information to the public website and into the state law enforcement database.
  • Obtaining Division of Criminal Information (DCI) Network certification within 6 months of hire is required for this position.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with Benefits.
This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays after a successful training period. Â Any telework will be under the conditions of the State Teleworking Program Policy, and the employer may end any teleworking arrangement at any time at the employer's sole discretion.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL the following:
  • Experience handling and maintaining sensitive and confidential information in a business setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word in a business setting.
  • Experience with reviewing documents/files for accuracy and appropriate documentation including spelling, punctuation and grammatical correctness in a business setting.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen due to security requirements for accessing SBI applications to which the person in this positionmust have access.
  • Strong skills in communicating effectively both orally, especially with people by telephone, and in writing with the ability to compose memos and emails to local, state, and federal law enforcement, judicial agencies, and other law enforcement partners.
  • Ability to establish and maintain favorable working relationships with others.
Selected candidates will undergo and must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation which includes: Â pre-employment polygraph examination; credit and arrest checks; interviews with associates, personal and business references; verification interviews of employers; verification of education achievement; urinalysis drug screening; and submission of fingerprints.
