Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (BMNTC) is currently accepting applications for a full-time Recreation Therapist.

• Evaluating, designing, and implementing Therapeutic Recreation programs for the residents of BMNTC
• Providing services for adults with neurocognitive disorders, including those with physical disabilities and individuals who are medically fragile
• Providing interventions, approaches, and individual and group activities to meet the resident's care plan goals. Serves on the interdisciplinary and provides recommendations to the team regarding a resident's plan of care.
• Provides education to staff to support resident’s leisure preference and quality of life

This position is designated MANDATORY and MUST report or stay over during adverse weather events and/or other emergencies. 

Per G.S. 126-5 (c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.

Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability. The successful candidate will return to the Work Experience section of the application and thoroughly document, in detail, that they possess the following:

• Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and evaluating plans of care, relating to the resident’s leisure preferences.
• Ability to instruct and/or guide direct care staff, student interns, and other staff involved in the care of the resident in recreation therapy methods and techniques.

Management Preference

• Experience working with individuals with Neurocognitive Disorders.
