The Division of Marketing and Domestic Marketing program assists in the marketing and sale of North Carolina agricultural products both in-state and throughout the United States. Through the numerous programs initiated and maintained by the section, our NC producers and companies move large quantities of products into the marketplace valued at millions of dollars.
This position will direct and supervise 6-7 Marketing Specialist positions. The position will work to increase the value of NC Agriculture products at the farm and business level. The position will ensure that retail activities support the GTBNC program objectives to heighten the general awareness and availability of NC products to consumers, retail operators and wholesale buyers while meeting the needs of our members who desire connections to these markets either directly or through sponsored events.The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provide services that promote and improve agriculture, agribusiness and forests; protect consumers and businesses; and conserve farmland and natural resources for the prosperity of all North Carolinians. The Department employs approximately 2,000 employees.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:Thorough knowledge of the principals involved in the production and marketing of agriculture.Considerable knowledge of the principles of agricultural economics.Ability to plan, organize, and direct work operations.Ability to analyze marketing situations and industry needs and to creatively formulate plans of work to meet these needs.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.Ability to problem solve effectively and the skill to identify the best solution.
Minimum Education And Experience RequirementsYou may qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience, either through years of education or years of directly related experience, or a combination of both.
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, crop science, animal science, horticulture, or a related agricultural curriculum from an appropriate accredited institution and four years of experience in agricultural marketing, including one year in a supervisory or managerial role; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
