To be eligible for a sign-on bonus, the candidate must not have worked as a probationary, permanent, or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee subject to the State Human Resources Act.”This position is located at Mountain View Correctional Institution in Avery County, NC.This position performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair and/or construction of buildings and facilities. Work requires specialization in two or more technical trades in connection with maintenance of facilities, related equipment and machinery. Position functions at the journey level in multiple skilled trades such as electrical, plumbing, masonry, heating and air, or similar specializations. Work assignments are complex, and require planning and coordination of multiple trade disciplines. Position functions with limited oversight, and seek input from higher level trades specialists in the completion of novel maintenance problems and issues. Work is performed independently; however, positions may refer unusual work problems to their supervisor for consideration and final determination. Position provides technical guidance to other positions engaged skilled, semi-skilled or unskilled maintenance work. This position ensure that work performed adheres to established maintenance, repair and/or construction standards. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC09. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result. Salary Grade: NC09 Salary Range: $38,516 - $67,404

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violation North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons, Correction Enterprises, the Division of Community Supervision, and the Division of Rehabilitation & Reentry.
