State of North Carolina is Hiring a HR Technician I Near Raleigh, NC

Unleash your potential and make an impact! The Department of Commerce, DWS Human Resources Unit is currently accepting applications for a Human Resources Technician I.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, as well as retirement.

The Division of Workforce Solutions is currently working a Hybrid (onsite/offsite) Teleworking schedule.

Salary Grade: NC05

* Recruitment Range: $31,688.00 - $55,453.00*

This position will support the Division HR Manager, Consultant, Benefits Specialist and three Recruiters. The primary purpose is to provide administrative support to internal and external staff, ensuring paperwork received in the central office is processed and filed in accordance with unit procedures. This position will manage/maintain the following programs: Probationary Appointments, Service Awards, Retirement Certificates and Temporary Solutions, managing Excel spreadsheets for each of these programs. This position will manage/maintain the official DWS Personnel File room ensuring personnel data and records are kept confidential, as well as the purging of files in accordance with the HR Records Retention schedule.

Responsibilities also include:

* Provide excellent customer service daily to internal and external customers via telephone, email, and in-person.

* Receive, review, process HR paperwork, incoming mail and faxes, and funnel through the proper HR channels.

* Compose memos, reports, review paperwork, and print confidential information to be filed.

* Maintain general office supplies; order office supplies via E-Procurement.

* Coordinate local and non-local issuance of Employee ID Badges following standard operating procedures.

* Initial approver of all Smartsheet HR requests as well as point of contact for Smartsheet workflow issues.

* Verify invoices received from Finance Unit for accuracy of payment.

* Perform the following verifications: employment, education, creditable state service, I-9/ E-Verify, and process according to established guidelines.

* Update and maintain DWS Job Descriptions in the Job Description Management System.

Associate s degree, typically in Human Resources from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
