The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services for the Quality Assurance Unit for Adult Protective Services (APS) in Las Vegas, NV. Duties include but are not limited to conducting reviews of program, resident surveys, and case files; understanding and interpreting state, local and federal policy; policy and program recommendations; revising and maintaining procedures and manuals; producing reports and developing spreadsheets; providing technical assistance to staff as needed; assisting, developing, providing and coordinating training; working with sister agencies, services recipients and providers for the betterment of the program and to maintain quality; participating in work groups and performing related duties as assigned. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

The ability to travel at least 25% of the time is required.

This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
