The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position resides within the IT Customer Support division for the Department of Taxation located in Las Vegas at 700 E Warm Springs. IT Technicians are responsible for maintaining computer and peripheral equipment, imaging computers, Microsoft Active Directory account management, and monitoring systems. We are a dedicated and collaborative team that work well together to help Taxation achieve its mission and maintain a positive work culture. We value individual strengths, teamwork and decision making through collaboration. We have a flexible department culture offering a work / life balance using innovative work schedules. After hours standby occurs on weekdays from 5PM to 9PM, using a monthly rotational schedule. We offer training, location flexibility, and promotional opportunities. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, three years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR (for positions in the Network Operations & Support specialty ONLY) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of IT work experience in the upgrade or replacement of software and hardware components on networked workstations; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Statewide travel is required.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
