State of Missouri is Hiring a Transportation Project Designer - LPA Design Manager Near Chesterfield, MO

POSITION CLOSES ON 04/01/2022

The transportation project designer is responsible for directing a team of liaisons that assist cities and counties with federally-funded LPA projects throughout the programming and design phase of a project. Responsibilities are performed under general supervision.

A day in the life:

  • Supervises Local Public Agency (LPA) liaison personnel, including making employment-related decisions, training, and performance develop and management. Performs supervisory responsibilities in a manner consistent with the Departments Affirmative Action Program.
  • Provides federal guidance to LPAs in the design and construction phases of projects, including guidance and direction pertaining to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities (ADA).
  • Investigates and responds to state, city, and county officials, property owners, and general public inquiries.
  • Prepares and reviews federal aid funding agreements to be executed between LPAs and the Commission.
  • Serves as the single point of contact (SPOC) responsible for managing directly or by delegating the management of LPA projects deemed to be of "high risk" on or within MoDOT's right of way.
  • Coordinates the management and administration of Cost-Share Program-funded projects within the Area Engineers, District Administration, and others involved with this unique set of LPA administered projects being implemented on or within MoDOT's Right of way.
  • Works in partnership with East West Gateway (EWG) and project sponsors regarding EWG's Reasonable Progress Policy to successfully implement LPA construction projects and avoid jeopardizing funds awarded to these projects.
  • Reviews and provides comments and/or approves preliminary plans, environmental clearances, final plans, bid proposals, engineer's estimates of costs, engineering services contracts, and reimbursement requests.
  • Works collaboratively with the LPA Design Manager to resolve LPA design and other project delivery issues.
  • Prepares and presents information to MoDOT and LPA partners such as at District Tracker and at annual LPA program workshops.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.

What you’ll need for success:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.
  • Contingent upon passing the EIT within one-year of appointment to the position.
  • ***Waiver of EIT will be considered
  • Six years of experience in highway or transportation engineering.
