State of Missouri is Hiring a Tableau Data Analyst #5-7-362 Near Jefferson, MO

Job Location:

  • The office for this position is located at the Harry S. Truman State Office Building, 301 W High Street, Jefferson City, MO. 65101.

This position will support all agencies in refining their data culture to be able to make data-informed decisions using Tableau tools. We will encourage data security, data validation, machine learning processes, predictive analytics, and becoming more transparent for both internal and external stakeholders.

This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD).

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with State Agencies to assist in developing dashboards that drive data-based decision-making.
  • Analyze data related to customer experience.
  • Convert and validate raw data into clear, meaningful information and tell a story by creatively displaying details in charts, graphs, and slides.
  • Build and maintain various dashboards for cross-agency metrics.
  • Validate and ensure data accuracy from various data sources in various forms.
  • Respond to inquiries from customer agencies related to data requests, data integrity, dashboards, and data issues that arise.
  • Market dashboards to targeted audiences to promote awareness and maintain an open feedback loop for continuous improvement to meet customer needs for timely data-based decision-making.
  • Offer training opportunities for all state Tableau Creators to increase Tableau expertise statewide.
  • Research opportunities to combine data sets from different agencies to enhance data analytics for the State.

All you need for success:

  • Proficiency in Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep Builder, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with data warehouses and data lakes, writing queries, developing reports and presentations, and using SQL.
  • Knowledge of R or Python and building data models.
  • Ability to convey technical information and concepts to non-technical staff and stakeholders.
  • Ability to define a problem, analyze relevant information, and develop solutions and plans to solve the problem.
  • Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships.
  • Good customer service.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, exercise independent judgment, and take action on it.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and determine reporting requirements.
  • Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.

Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.

Knowledge of data modeling and design. Ability to think methodically and critically. Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve database performance issues. Ability to organize work assignments and multi-task.
