Support Care Assistant – Restorative Aides help provide therapeutic services to Veterans in the Home. This specialized position aids Veterans during activities and therapy to promote positive outcomes.

Hourly Rate: $17.77

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of the general care and treatment of clients, including basic nursing, first aid, and emergency treatments
• Ability to work with Veterans and/or the geriatric population.

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid Certified Nursing Assistant certification

Physical Requirements:

• Walking, balancing, finger dexterity, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, bending, lifting, supporting, repetitive motion, frequent washing of hands
• Essential sensory and communicative activities include: feeling, seeing speaking, hearing, smelling and tasting

Job Description Summary:

• Provide hands on restorative services as ordered and document in Veteran medical record.
• Lift and move Veterans with physical disabilities for positioning, toileting, bathing, transferring, or as needed.
• Assist with transporting Veterans to and from their room, dining room, recreational room and elsewhere as required.
• Assist with delivery and set up of food trays (ex. setting up food trays, cutting up food, carrying trays, etc.)
• Promote and assist with Veteran elimination, which includes transfers to and from the toilet, stooping or bending at the knees.
• Assist/provide dressing and grooming as necessary, bending to assist with socks, shoes, etc.
• Assist Veterans with adaptive equipment (ex. Prosthesis, foot pedals, etc. that would require bending, squatting or stooping.) Lift and move supplies and equipment.
• Walk long distances, push/pull wheelchairs and broda chairs of Veterans with physical disabilities as needed.
• Perform manual electronic data entry.
• Adhere to infection control procedures as trained.
• Other duties as assigned.
