State of Missouri is Hiring a Quality Improvement Specialist (FTC-North) Near St. Louis, MO

Quality Improvement Specialist

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center-North provides specialized care for clients diagnosed with mental illness. This position reports to the Quality Management department and is responsible for evaluating and assessing current practices to identify treatment alternatives and strategies for the delivery of programs and individualized services, reporting evaluation and assessment findings and preparing corrective action recommendations to management for approval.

Responsibilities:

  • Routinely monitoring the Joint Commission (TJC) web site and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) Hospitals Conditions of Participation (COP) requirements.
  • Creates power points or newletters about TJC and CMS changes.
  • Working with leadership to ensure policies, standards and conditions of participation are being met and followed. This entails meeting with leadership and other staff, conducting mock surveys (or tracer activities).
  • Attending workshops or seminars to keep up to date to healthcare standards and CMS COPs.
  • Collecting and analyzing reports for leadership.
  • Facilitating morning meeting, Root Cause Analyses (RCA), Pro-Active Risk Assessments (PARA), and facilitating and encouraging continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Attending, facilitating or actively participating in various meetings including but not limited to: Patient Safety, Medication Usage, Medical Record Review, Quality Council, Clinical Managers Committee, Environment of Care and Leadership meetings.
  • Submitting hospital data to NRI for submission to TJC and CMS. Analyzing the reports for leadership at the facility.
  • Review and processing of Incident Reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Eligibility:

Knowledge of accreditation and certification standards and their application to state or privately operated facilities

Ability to formulate quality improvement plans to improve efficiency

Master’s degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed)

1-3 years’ experience in clerical or general office support work

For internal candidates, no disciplinary action during the previous 12 months
