State of Missouri is Hiring a Pesticide Program Coordinator - Certification Near Jefferson City, MO

The overall goal of the Pesticide Program is to prevent unreasonable adverse effects of pesticide use on human health and the environment while helping assure the availability of pesticides needed to maintain our quality of life. This position will plan, coordinate, and implement the certification and training component of the Pesticide Program. This requires maintaining a high level of knowledge of the Missouri Pesticide Use Act (MPUA) and Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). Guidance will be provided to field staff on certification issues. There will be a lot of public speaking engagements to educate Missouri pesticide applicators on a new federal rule that will begin in 2024. This position will work closely with the Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) Coordinator on established goals.

ANNUAL SALARY: $49,550.16 annually

LOCATION: Jefferson City, Missouri

  • Review all pesticide applications for licensures.
  • Answer technical calls from applicators, field staff, and the public about certification.
  • Prepare PowerPoints and deliver presentations throughout the year.
  • Educate field staff and pesticide applicators on Worker Protection Standards (WPS).
  • Manage databases.
  • Supervise office staff.
  • Assist Enforcement Program Coordinator with case review.
  • Statewide travel 20%-30%.

Qualifications:

  • Four years of professional experience In agricultural regulatory, agronomy, biology, plant science, ag education, general agriculture, or closely related areas, AND graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with specialization in one of the above areas.
  • Excellent attention to detail, high-level organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
