State of Missouri is Hiring a Pension Analyst Near Jefferson, MO

Job Location: This position will be located at the Missouri State Capitol, Jefferson City, MO

The Joint Committee on Public Employee Retirement (JCPER) is a bipartisan, bicameral committee providing the General Assembly with information, analysis and recommendations concerning Missouri’s public employee retirement systems. The JCPER’s specific responsibility is to perform a continuing analysis of all state and local government retirement systems to determine necessary recommendations for changes in statutory law. The JCPER performs analysis of the fiscal impact of proposed legislative changes and is responsible for compliance with the statutory requirements concerning actuarial cost statements for any benefit change on both state and local level. The JCPER prepares reports on pension issues including an annual report on the financial condition of Missouri’s public retirement systems.

Perform annual analysis of the financial condition of Missouri’s public retirement systems, Assist in the preparation of the annual report to the General Assembly,

Analyze pension legislation introduced in the General Assembly to determine the fiscal impact and compliance with statutory requirements, including compiling Pension Impact Statements outlining actuarial impact of legislation,

Conduct research on pension policy issues as directed,

Monitor all retirement related legislation, including hearings and calendar movement, Distribute annual surveys and quarterly investment reporting updates for public plans, Prepare for quarterly committee meetings, take and prepare meeting minutes,

Type and/or compose correspondence, filing, copying and other support duties as necessary, Provide formal and informal responses to legislative requests, and

Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Director.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, emphasis in accounting or finance preferred or commensurate experience.

Ability to read and comprehend complicated and technical legislative language, analyze detailed financial and actuarial data and write clearly and succinctly.

Familiarity with State government and the legislative process.

Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and publication software, specifically Microsoft Office suite and WordPerfect.
