Salary: $ 1,449.93 to $1,478.93 (semi-monthly)

Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, and will be located at Rock Bridge State Park, 5901 S. Highway 163, Columbia, MO 65203.

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of state buildings and facilities.
  • Employees work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities, and grounds.
  • Routine cleaning of park buildings, restrooms, campsites, and park grounds.
  • Operate and maintain lawn mowers, tractors, skid loader, trucks, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and similar mechanical equipment.
  • Assist with prescribed burns, wild fire suppression, herbicide application, and other natural or cultural activities as directed.
  • May also oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in any of the following trade areas: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair. (Education may be substituted for experience.)

Preferred Qualifications and Experience/Special Job Requirements

  • Knowledge in a variety of trade areas including: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair.
  • Skill and ability to operate tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment.
  • Ability to provide and follow directions.
  • Ability to interpret and utilize technical manuals.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.
  • Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.
  • Must be able to walk long distances on uneven terrain in all kinds of weather and environmental conditions and have the ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Basic computer and customer service skills to help with retail sales, email inquiries, and regular report tracking.
  • This position may be required to have MDC’s Level 1 Prescribed Fire Training. If required, you will be given 12 months from the appointment date to obtain the necessary training.
  • This position may be required to obtain and maintain appropriate commercial operator’s license, water/wastewater certifications, and/or other required licenses/certification. If required, and if you do not currently possess this license/certification, you will be given six months to obtain necessary license/certification.
