State of Missouri is Hiring a Financial Services Specialist Series Near Jefferson, MO

This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, with the Intermediate starting salary of $54,953.76, and a Senior starting salary of $59,350.08.

Job Location: Central Office, 105 West Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, Missouri

The financial services specialist performs routine entry-level financial accounting, reporting, and support services activities. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.

What you’ll do:

  • Performs various accounting functions, including reconciliations; assisting with the calculation of various overhead rates; and monitoring records for consumable inventories and capital/fixed assets.
  • Maintains accounting records and prepares financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and Governmental Accounting Standards Board statements for the department, medical and life insurance plan, and self-insurance plan.
  • Coordinates and conducts capital/fixed asset physical inventory and coordinates statewide physical inventory of capital/fixed assets and consumable inventory.
  • Analyze, research and interpret new and proposed accounting requirements as prescribed by the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
  • Assist in the coordination department’s external audits including preparing documentation for the auditors and compiling the annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR).

  • Bachelor's Degree: Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field

Special Working Conditions:

  • Job requires occasional, statewide, overnight travel.
