State of Missouri is Hiring an Environmental Specialist - 4030074 Near Jefferson City, MO

Salary: $1,700 - $2,078 semi-monthly

Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, and will be located at 1659 E. Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.

This is a dynamic position focusing on air emissions data and reports requiring a variety of technical, organizational, and communication skills. The Air Quality Analysis Section is responsible for maintaining accurate air emissions and monitoring data in Missouri. The Air Pollution Control Program (APCP) maintains the purity of Missouri's air to protect the people's health, general welfare, and property. Whether an urban citizen or a rural resident, everyone in Missouri needs and deserves clean air.

What you’ll do:

  • Collect air emissions inventory questionnaires (EIQ) from permitted facilities and assist with the EIQ mail-out and data entry as needed.
  • Work with the regulated community through phone, email, or in-person assistance to help them use the emission inventory system (MoEIS) and complete their EIQ.
  • Review and update data, business practices, and electronic data collection systems to ensure APCP meets EPA reporting requirements.
  • Quality assure (QA) emissions data and other data element submittals from facilities.
  • Complete permit framework reviews as assigned, coordinating with the permit engineers and/or facility personnel to work through issues.
  • Complete and maintain data analysis and corresponding reports.
  • Develop and QA statewide Hazardous Air Pollutant (HAP) emissions inventories for point sources.
  • Attend training and seminars continuously working on professional development, technical knowledge and skills, and identifying process improvements and efficiencies.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline and 0-4 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
  • Proficient communication skills and able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to comprehend laws, regulations, policies, guidance procedures, maps, plans, and reports.
  • Ability to use a computer and standard word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Access
  • Data analysis and reporting skills
  • Well organized with proficient computer skills
