State of Missouri is Hiring an Environmental Data Analyst/Web Developer - 5030502 Near Jefferson City, MO

Salary: $1,854 - $2,538.96 semi-monthly *salary will be based on education and experience

Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Missouri Geological Survey, Water Resources Center, and will be located at 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65101. This is a temporary, full-time, benefit-eligible position based upon federal ARPA funding. Position funding will end no later than December 31, 2026.

We are seeking a positive, enthusiastic, and conscientious individual to become an essential part of the team responsible for the development and production of the Missouri Hydrology Information Center (MoHIC). MoHIC will bring to life a platform to provide data that delivers citizens and communities relevant, accessible, and actionable information to help plan for safety and protection of property.

What you’ll do:

  • Play an integral role as part of a team of dedicated staff to ensure the goals of the MoHIC are focused on daily in a meaningful way that results in the creation, consolidation, centralization, and/or presentation of products that provide better protection and resiliency for citizens.
  • Support the development of, and adhere to, a detailed project schedule, budget, and work plan for the Missouri Hydrology Information Center (https://dnr.mo.gov/water/hows-water/mo-hydrology-information-center-mohic).
  • Support the achievement of current strategic goals, and cultivate new directions, for MoHIC.
  • Support and participate in the coordination of the MoHIC Unit with Water Resources Center Sections, Units, and team members as well as other programs and entities.
  • Support Water Resources Center activities in preparation for and in response to flooding and drought events and other program-level projects.
  • Adhere to organizational health and safety protocols.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 30 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Environmental Science or Technology, Biology, Geology, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field; OR
  • Four or more years of professional experience in environmental regulatory work, engineering, environmental science, geology, hydrology, or a closely related natural resources area. (Additional education or experience will substitute for the required education and experience.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient strategic planning, project management, and time management skills.
  • Strong background and experience in water resources issues and topics.
  • Strong technical skills, experience, and familiarity with installing and/or operating field monitoring equipment.
  • Strong data quality assurance, quality control, and compilation skills.
  • Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
