State of Missouri is Hiring an Attorney-Legal Counsel Near Kansas, MO

The Division of Legal Services (DLS) has an opening for a Legal Counsel within the Litigation Section located in Jackson County .
Job Location: This position is located at the Joseph Patrick Teasdale State Office Building; 8800 E 63rd St. 3rd Floor, Kansas City/Raytown, Missouri.
  • Some local day travel is required.

What you’ll do:
Support and provide legal advice to the Department of Social Services (DSS) and its divisions, which include the Children’s Division, the Family Support Division, and the Division of Youth Services.
Maintain a diverse case load including Juvenile Court, Circuit Court, and Administrative Hearing cases.
Perform case analysis, issue spotting, time/calendar management, and case load organization.
Work with other DSS team members, such as investigators and social workers.
Minimum Qualifications: A Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution and member of The Missouri Bar. Experience in litigation and a background in juvenile, family, and administrative law is preferred but not required. Excellent research and writing skills are required.
Annual Starting Salary Range: $59,893.70-$69,024.50 (depending on work experience).
