State of Missouri is Hiring an Assistant Traffic Liaison Engineer Near Jefferson, MO

Job Location: Central Office, 830 MoDOT, Drive, Jefferson City, MO

Why you’ll love this position:

The assistant traffic liaison engineer is responsible for providing support, leading special projects, and developing policy and training for specific areas of traffic engineering including Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO), intelligent transportation systems, freeway and arterial management, roadway lighting, work zones, pavement marking, highway signing, and traffic/highway safety. Responsibilities are performed under general supervision.

What you’ll do:

  • Serves as an expert for freeway and arterial management, signals, lighting, permits, and other fields of transportation systems management and operations.
  • Corresponds and communicates with Districts, Divisions, and external partners when serving as an expert leading special projects focused on traffic engineering.
  • Gathers data and performs research to develop policy, technical documents, and training in all areas of traffic engineering.
  • Prepares and manages agreements/contracts and associated funding.
  • Researches, evaluates, recommends, and implements technologies for the state traffic operations system; prepares specifications and standards for new or replacement equipment.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
  • Six years of experience in highway or transportation engineering.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Job requires regular, statewide, overnight travel
  • Hybrid telework option may be considered. Full-time telework is not available.
  • Remote work from a MoDOT facility will be considered.
