State of Missouri is Hiring an Assistant Director - OSE Effective Practices Near Jefferson, MO

Job Location: This position will be located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.

Within the Division of Learning Services, the Office of Special Education, the Effective Practices section works with school districts to identify effective research and data-driven monitoring, accountability and assessment of instructional practices in areas of literacy, positive academic and behavior interventions, supportive, personalized and relevant special education instruction, technical assistance and professional development that encourages parent/district/community involvement working together to develop a clear and common focus for students with disabilities.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as primary point of contact for Career Education special needs supports
  • Ensure integration of supports by working with the Office of College and Career Readiness and other staff from the Office of Special Education
  • Continually survey the needs of Career Education programs to help ensure students with disabilities can be successful in their programs
  • Analyze data related to participation and success of students with disabilities and recommend strategies and practices for individual area career centers and groups of area career centers
  • Based on analysis of needs, identify and make available resources to support area career centers
  • Provide or arrange for professional development, technical assistance, and in-service training related to special needs programs in a career education setting
  • Develop and make available on-line resources for Career Education programs and staff to support students with disabilities
  • Plan and implement activities with other agencies to ensure a coordinated system of transition planning for students with disabilities statewide that is consistent with and results in the Missouri State Performance Plan (SPP) expectations related to improved graduation rates and vocational postsecondary outcomes and decreased dropout rates
  • Oversee and coordinate activities for Missouri Postsecondary Success including marketing to other groups, both within and outside the agency

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required with a major in special education, vocational/career-technical education, public administration, communications, or related disciplines.
  • Three or more years of teaching, coordinating, or supervising career-technical education, special education; or coordinating and supervising public administration.
