State of Missouri is Hiring an Accounts Supervisor Near Jefferson City, MO

The Division or Finance and Administrative Services (DFAS) is seeking applications for an Accounts Supervisor (Payroll Supervisor) to join our team, located in Cole County.

Annual Salary: $56,665.23

Job Location: This position will be located at 3418 Knipp Drive, Jefferson City, Missouri.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide employment/salary/leave verification to DSS/Family Support Division, DOLIR/Employment Security, financial institutions, insurance companies, etc. as requested by employees.
  • Run various payroll reports from SAM II/HR and SAM II Data Warehouse to check leave balances, administrative leave with pay, salary and leave history, Personal Wellness and Domestic Violence usage.
  • Supervise staff of 3 Accounts Assistants and 1 Senior Accounts Assistant who process Divisional new hires, terminations, transfers, leave corrections, paycheck corrections, direct deposit applications, paycheck deliveries, SEBES entries, etc. for a semi-monthly payroll system.
  • Must be able to answer staff questions on processes and provide backup when necessary.
  • Process Share Leave awards provided by the Human Resource Center each pay cycle.
  • Process one-time payroll corrections each pay cycle, when necessary.
  • Serve as primary contact for Leave Track leave accounting software; working with ITSD on issues and changes.
  • Research and report employee overpayments to Divisional HR Manager, Department HR Manager and Department HR Attorney.
  • Research requests from MOSERS and MCHCP regarding unpaid leave dates, start dates and termination dates.
  • Research employee addresses/contact information for all returned W2s.
  • Serve as contact for Employee Self Service Portal; advising employees of reasons for access issues and unlocking users. Also advise former employees on how to access portal for check stubs and W2s.
  • Assist with transitioning DSS payroll and leave functions from SAM II to the new ERP system and implementing new processes and procedures.
  • Research complex payroll issues and questions, responding verbally and/or in writing to HR Managers, Supervisors, Employees, Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan and Missouri State Retirement System, making necessary corrections or advising staff to correct

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience and/or appropriate certification. (Substitutions may be allowed.)

Preferred Qualifications: This position is vital to the Department of Social Services’ payroll functions and involves payroll analysis and requires a high degree of judgement and initiative in completing assigned duties.
