Working Title: Highway Maintenance/Traffic - Temporary Positions

MnDOT District 8 has two (2) Transportation Generalist positions this summer in Willmar.
These positions will work full-time hours Monday through Thursday and are anticipated to run from approximately mid-May to mid-September. No evenings or weekends.
Positions will be available in the following areas:
Highway Maintenance (one position):
Assist in maintaining the roadway surfaces and shoulders; debris removal from roadways, right-of-ways and roadsides; assist with traffic control in high volume traffic settings; roadside mowing, trimming and landscape maintenance; assist with installation and repair of signs and guardrails.
Traffic Striping Crew (one position):
Will work primarily on the installation and maintenance of pavement markings. Crew members must participate in maintenance of centerline truck and follow truck. May be required to work overtime.
NOTE: The incumbent will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. New employees must pass a pre-placement drug test for evidence of use of marijuana, cocaine, opiates, phencyclidine (PCP) and amphetamines (MDMD, MDA and MDEA) and acetylmorphine (6-AM).
The incumbent is required to be immediately accessible to phone and be able to report to work within one (1) hour of being called.
A pre-placement physical examination is required for this position. Current employees who have successfully bid or are moving into specific job classifications will be required to complete the pre-placement physical exam. The scope of the physical exam will be limited to whether the employee can safely and effectively perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, in compliance with state and federal law.
