State of Michigan is Hiring a Departmental Specialist 13 - Outpatient Hospital and Urgent Care Center Policy Specialist Near Lansing, MI

This position is considered the specialist for the Michigan Medicaid outpatient hospital coverage and urgent care center policy. This position establishes authoritative direction for all aspects of outpatient hospital coverage, including diabetes self-management education (DSME), diabetes prevention program (DPP), dialysis, emergency room services,
independent diagnostic testing facilities (IDTF), portable x-ray suppliers (PXRS) and urgent care center policy by developing and implementing relevant State Plan pages, provider manual pages, and associated provider and beneficiary publications. These documents define program content, requirements, policies and procedures. This position is the
designated specialist and implements policy coverage for outpatient hospital and urgent care center issues. This position performs complex policy research and analysis for the Medicaid program; and represents the Department at meetings, conferences, etc. on these issues. This position also serves as lead for workgroups responsible for addressing outpatient services coverage, reimbursement, and billing issues; serves as liaison with the outpatient covered services provider community; and provides expert consultation to operational areas of the Department on Medicaid outpatient hospital coverage and urgent care center related policy issues.

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
A bachelor's degree in a health care or health policy related field or a degree in nursing is preferred.
Experience
Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

The physical location of this position is 400 S Pine Street, Lansing, MI. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.

Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
  • A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
  • A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
  • Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
