Job DescriptionThis position functions as the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) specialist for criminal justice and noncriminal justice external agencies. This position will provide technical analysis and evaluations of network and operational processes of local, state, and federal criminal justice and noncriminal justice agencies. This position will prepare and conduct technical security process analysis through examining CJIS user agency information systems to ensure compliance with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy (CJISSECPOL). This position will also conduct thorough reviews of external agency systems/applications that connect directly to Michigan State Police (MSP) systems to ensure the systems/applications meet the CJISSECPOL controls and do not present a risk to MSP mission critical systems.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) is a full-service policing agency with statewide jurisdiction, providing over 60 different services either directly to Michigan residents or in support of other law enforcement agencies. The MSP personnel most visible to the public are the uniform troopers whose primary responsibilities include traffic enforcement, crime prevention and investigation, and community engagement and service.
Required Education And ExperienceEducationPossession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
ExperienceFour years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.
Additional Requirements And InformationThis position requires passing a pre-employment screening, including passing a drug screen, criminal history background check, and a fingerprint check by the Michigan State Police.
