Introduction

Main Purpose of Job

Under the direct supervision of\r\nMSD’s Frederick Campus Principal, this position oversees the development and\r\nimplementation of evidence-based behavior practices to facilitate optimal\r\nstudent engagement and learning. This position manages and directs the\r\nFrederick campus Student Support Specialists, and coordinates information,\r\nresources and communications between administrators, teachers, staff, parents\r\nand outside agencies to assure smooth and efficient program activities. This\r\nposition is also responsible for training, supervising, and evaluating the\r\nperformance of assigned personnel.\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

●� �Provides ongoing training, support\r\nand consultation to Student Support Specialists to facilitate proper\r\ndevelopment and implementation of evidence-based practices and educational\r\nplans such as Individual Education Plans (IEP) and Behavior Intervention Plans\r\n(BIP) for students. \r\n●� ��Oversees the progress monitoring\r\nand evaluation of student behavior programs towards educational goals and\r\nobjectives; provides recommendations for procedural changes to enhance program\r\neffectiveness.\r\n●�Conducts, assigns and oversees\r\nFunctional Behavior Assessments (FBA); supports the development of BIPs and\r\ninformal behavior programs; analyzes data and evaluates student progress\r\ntowards behavior goals.\r\n●� Supervises the implementation of\r\nrelated behavior goals and services with the Individualized Educational Program\r\n(IEP) for students; oversees the implementation of approved strategies for\r\nbehavior management.\r\n●\r\nSupports the development and\r\nimplementation of school / department-wide universal preventative programs such\r\nas Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS).� \r\n●\r\nCollaborates with school\r\npersonnel, parents, and outside agencies to meet the behavioral needs of\r\nidentified students.\r\n●\r\nProvides professional development\r\nto teachers, aides, and specialists regarding best practices for classroom\r\nmanagement.\r\n●\r\nPrepares and maintains a variety\r\nof reports, records and files related to students’ IEPs.\r\n●� �Attends and participates in a\r\nvariety of meetings, conferences and professional development training as\r\nassigned.\r\n●\r\nDevelops and provides behavior\r\nrelated training and presentations to staff and families.\r\n●\r\nObserves and evaluates the Student\r\nSupport Specialists.\r\n\r\n\r\n��\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

●\r\nMaster’s degree in Education,\r\nPsychology or related field and three years’ experience implementing\r\nevidence-based strategies to manage student behavior. \r\n\r\n\r\n●\r\nA Master's with BCBA or working\r\ntowards BCBA is desirable but not required.\r\n

●\r\nSuperior interpersonal and active\r\nlistening skills required.\r\n●\r\nAttentive to details with good\r\nplanning and organization skills.\r\n\r\n\r\n●�Skilled in identifying problems\r\nand brainstorming potential solutions, and able to work both independently and\r\ncollaboratively.\r\n

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

●\r\nMust be proficient in American\r\nSign Language (ASL) and written English.� \r\n●\r\nExperience working with students\r\nwho are deaf or hard of hearing, and knowledge of Deaf community is required. \r\n●\r\nMust be able to conceptualize and\r\nassess complex behavioral issues/cases and clearly communicate findings and\r\nrecommendations with staff and families.\r\n●\r\nKnowledge of IEPs, FBAs and BIPs.\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
