The Maine Department of Corrections is seeking a dynamic individual to provide leadership as the Superintendent at Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland, Maine.
The Superintendent at Long Creek leads by example in fostering an environment of collaboration, trust and respect in keeping with the Maine Model of Corrections: Making our communities safer by reducing harm through supportive intervention, empowering change, and restoring lives.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Superintendent is responsible for directing and overseeing the operations of Long Creek Youth Development Center. Responsibilities range from the integration of Unit Management concepts and Prisoner Treatment Programs to the overall security and maintenance of the physical plant within National Standards (American Correctional Association) and PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act).
Teamwork, professionalism, and integrity are the foundation of the guiding principles of the Maine Department of Corrections and provide the path to achieving our primary mission of protecting the public by providing a safe, secure and humane correctional environment for prison staff and the incarcerated offender. The Prison Warden will allocate budget resources for the maximum possible effect and will develop, implement and establish the policies and procedures for correctional staff ensuring the overall safety and security of the facility.
THE BACKGROUND OF WELL QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL DEMONSTRATE :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A combination of education (including Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Business Administration, and Public Administration or related fields), training, and progressively responsible experience in managing programs and people, with substantial experience in an advanced administrative capacity. Experience may be substituted on a year for year basis with education.
