The Department also promotes public health, operates two state psychiatric hospitals, and provides oversight to health care providers.

Riverview Psychiatric Center, in collaboration with the community, is a center for best practice, treatment, education and research, for individuals with serious, persistent mental illness, and co-occurring substance use disorders. Hospital leaders have worked hard to implement changes and establish quality measures of distinction. To continue our goal of becoming a leader within the Behavioral Health field, we are looking for candidates who work well in a team and are enthusiastic and dedicated to providing compassionate care. We hold accreditation's by CMS and the Joint Commission.

Job duties: 

This is professional mental health or developmental disabilities work in the development and implementation of institutional or community treatment plans for developmentally disabled or mentally ill patients generally during a single shift. Responsibilities include working with the interdisciplinary team and the patient ensuring the treatment plan encompasses the patient's treatment goals and input. Complying with expected timeframes for meetings and treatment plan coordination within Riverview's policies, guidelines and regulatory requirements. Collaboration with external providers such as guardians, community social workers, and family members regarding the patient's scheduled meetings and treatment plan. Direct patient care, additional clerical responsibilities, and other duties may be assigned. Treatment Team Coordinator's are vital to our organization as a member of the patient's interdisciplinary team.

A Typical Day Includes:

  • Coordinate patient treatment team meetings to accommodate the appropriate persons and documents coming together in a way that complies with hospital policy and regulatory standards.
  • Assures all treatment plans are in order, completed, dated, timed and signed by appropriate parties.
  • Ensures goals are not extended more than twice and the goal has been changed if the client has not been able to meet the expected goal (if appropriate).
  • Assists psychiatrists with paperwork as needed for clinical review panels.
  • Reviews treatment plans with clients, prescribed groups and treatment plan members prior to the scheduled meeting.
  • Document or transcribe meeting minutes to include client comments (if applicable).
  • Works with treatment team to make appropriate revisions to client treatment plan (if applicable).
  • Assists unit managers to regularly audit client charts to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Updates and prints client planners.
  • Schedules and notifies appropriate staff for safety meetings within 24 hours of any coercive event.
  • Maintains and demonstrates therapeutic relationships with clients at all times.
  • Communicates effectively with clients and presents written information in a clear manner.
  • Observes, records, and reports client behaviors/interactions to facilitate the development and implementation of client's treatment plan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or related field - OR - four (4) years progressively responsible experience in an institution or community based mental health/developmental disabilities program.
