State of Louisiana is Hiring a Purchasing Specialist Near Baton Rouge, LA

Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of Purchasing Specialist. The Purchasing Specialist is located in the Purchasing Department. This is a full-time position. This position is open for recruitment.
 REPORTS TO:
 Assistant Director of Purchasing
 
 COMPENSATION:

Minimum Qualifications
Required Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
 Required Experience
  • Two years of professional level experience in procurement or contract management within any public entity or private business setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with computers and Microsoft office Products (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
 Preferred Education
  • Associate's Degree

  • Experience working with and enterprise accounting and reporting system (e.g. Banner).
  • Prior experience working in a purchasing department of a Higher Education or other governmental entity.
The Purchasing Specialist works in the Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) Purchasing Department by providing services related to all aspects of Procurement. The Purchasing Specialist works directly under the Assistant Director of Purchasing and supports the Assistant Director of Purchasing by completed purchasing related tasks related to the procurement of services, supplies and equipment as needed.
 
The incumbent of this position is expected to perform their duties with a degree of professionalism and high ethical standards and in accordance with all established procedures and policies of the State of Louisiana Procurement Code, Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS), and Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC).
20% - Approves or disapproves requisitions in the Banner system as submitted by BRCC employees. Employee reviews the requisitions to make sure the correct information is listed on them such as a complete description of items, account code, etc. Employee issues purchase orders as per instructions from and under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Purchasing.
 
15% - Updates and maintains the College's vendor files within the Banner System. This includes accurately updating and entering vendors' names, contact, and banking information. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining working relationships between vendors and the College.
 
15% - Assist BRCC employees with questions or problems related to entering requisition in the Banner system.
 
15% - Review proposals, put bids out including making LaPac posts under the directions of the Director and Assistant Directory of Purchasing.
 
15% - Assists AP with matching invoices to purchases orders to assure timely payments are made.
 
10% - Assist Facilities, IT and other BRCC department with special projects related to procurement as needed.
5% - Run and distribute basic report form Banner and Cognos as assigned.
5% - Other duties as assigned.
