The Louisiana Schools Special School District (SSD) includes two Louisiana Special Schools recognized as elementary and secondary school systems. Both schools occupy the same campus servicing students throughout the state who are deaf, hard of hearing and/or visually impaired. SSD operates seven days a week 24 hours a day.
Physical Activity Level - 5. Work requires strenuous physical exertion for such activities as climbing, lifting objects weighing over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas. Work has some demand for more than ordinary strength or endurance.
Preference may be given to applicants who have American Sign Language skills.

A criminal history check may be conducted on all new hires. Also, prospective employees and current promotional employees will be required to complete a pre-employment drug testing. New hires will be subject to employment eligibility verification via the federal government's e-Verify system.
