The Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR) has an exciting opportunity for a professional who wants to impact Idaho water issues.

IDWR is filling a vacancy for a Technical Records Specialist 1 in our Western Region office in Boise. The person in this position will perform clerical, administrative, and records support tasks for Western Region staff in multiple programs. Primarily this candidate will maintain and manage files and records in multiple programs, review and process documents, perform data entry, compose correspondence, and receipt payments.

This position will also support a breadth of programs for water users in the region, so the successful candidate will have opportunities to develop experience in water rights, water district support, compliance, and general customer service. IDWR staff at Western Region tend to gain a breadth of experience in water administration.

Example of Duties

  • Answer phones, greet customers, respond to customer inquiries, and research and answer customer questions regarding water right processing and IDWR programs. Communicate with customers via phone, email, and written correspondence.
  • Review submitted applications and notices, process notices of ownership and address changes to water rights and permits, review and prepare applications for processing by water resource agents.
  • Maintain and manage documents and records related to water right allocations. Process and mail documents, maintain archive files, scan and stamp documents.
  • Review and data enter stream channel alteration permits.
  • Perform general office and clerical support services for regional staff, accept and receipt payments, and maintain office equipment.
  • Act as liaison between Western Region, other IDWR work units, and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors
  • Experience researching a variety of sources to resolve problems
  • Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying rules, regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments
  • Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system

Additional Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid driver's license
